Winter Weather Advisory

Thursday, October 8, 2009

Start of a Cold period late Thursday, Very Cold weekend With Snow chance Saturday, light accumulations possible! Deep Freeze likely.

Forecast map for Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

There is definitely a lot of weather to talk about coming up ahead this weekend. We got a start of a Very Cold spell starting late Thursday, this cold spell will last through the weekend, and even into next week. Highs will barely reach the upper 40s Friday and highs will struggle to reach the low 40s Saturday there is a chance a few spots might not make it out of the upper 30s!. It also appears we will have the chance to see our 1st snow of the season, it's not going to be much, but light accumulations are possible, But some spots could pick up as much as half inch of snow, any snow that would accumulate would not last too long at all, but it is big story because it may be our 1st snow and our 1st snow accumulation of the season. Deep Freeze is likely across the entire 6 county area lows will fall into the mid to upper 20s for several nights over the weekend into early next week starting Friday Night plants will not be able to be saved from temps this low.

The cold weather will start Thursday Night, as cold air starts to funnel in behind a cold front, but a small system will come through Friday Night and Saturday, right as we have this colder air over us, And this the system that has the chance to bring our 1st snow to the area Best chance of snow will be Late Friday Night and Saturday. It should mainly be snow showers but nothing too heavy, There may be some light accumulations mainly on roofs and grassy areas some spots could get up to an inch. This system will being another shot of even colder air starting Saturday and lasting through early next week. It appears like we will have several nights when the lows drop below freezing, lows could be as cold as the low 20s maybe even upper teens in some spots mainly Saturday Night. and again early next week, Places that have escaped a freeze last month will not miss this next one, So we have a Very cold stretch ahead. Detailed forecast below.

Thursday, Partly Sunny to Partly Cloudy, a bit breezy, highs in the low 50s, last warm day for awhile enjoy it! cooling off late in the day, Thursday Night, Colder, Partly Cloudy lows in the low 30s, some spots may fall to the upper 20s.

Friday, Very Cool, Sunny, Highs in the mid to upper 40s. Friday Night, Partly Cloudy then turning cloudier late, Friday Night Cold, Cloudy, with a chance of Light Snow late, Light accumulations possible. lows in the upper 20s.

Saturday Very Cool, Light Snow possible, light accumulations possible some places possible as much as 1 inch. otherwise cloudy in the afternoon, Highs only in the low 40s and upper 30s. Saturday Night, Cold, Deep Freeze Likely All areas, possible the coldest night of the season so far, lows in the low to mid 20s upper teens may be possible north.

Looking Ahead, It also now looks we will have another stronger system come in late Sunday Night and Monday that may bring another Snow Chance, this one needs to be watched closely, it has the chance to bring our 1st minor snow accumulations of the season. More details on this by Sunday, Night time temps will also be cold though out this weekend into early next week, 20s are likely everynight. a bit Warmer weather finally starting in by around Wednesday of next week.

Looking forward to your update once the snow flies out by you. The coordinator for the NWS COOP emailed everyone encouraging them to remove the funnel and inner tube and put out the snow boards. Exciting for this time of year. I recall snow this early in October only once and I was living in Marquette, MI at the time during my freshman year of college.
