Image from NWS

Cold air is pouring into the area from the north. Light snow Oct 26th

Most places had there first snow of the season Yesterday, Clayton was one of them, it started as light rain then changed over to light snow in the afternoon but then after a few hours it changed back to rain. But later in the evening it changed over to sleet/ice pellets. not all places got there first snow but Osceola and New Richmond both reported snow.Sleet/Ice accumulation of our roof October 27th

Overnight the 26th We got sleet/Ice pellets which accumulated of rooftops, corners and some areas in the yard. This was the first accumulation of frozen preip type this season! the Sleet/Ice pellets that accumulated on the roof stayed most of Monday temperature's did not even get out of the 30s up here on our hill where cool northwest winds kept temps down, it felt much like November!Wind Damage October 26th

Wind in this system was not as gusty as I thought. the strongest wind actually happened around 9-10AM when we did get some very strong gusts. one short strong gust snapped this weeping willow branch right off, which nearly landed on my Thermometer ( the white pole) my Wind Gauge picked up a gust of 34MPH while most wind reported were around 35-40MPH here in Wisconsin Western Minnesota had reports of 55MPH from this system!

Sundays Snow Update

Image from NWS

The Strongest Cold front of the season so far, is about to push into Northwest Wisconsin late Saturday Night. likely bringing with it the First snow of the season. But for Snow accumulation, there should not be much accumulation due to the warm ground temps. but the ground may become whitened for some time. along with the Snow chances, will come Very windy conditions, northwest Winds may gust up to 45 MPH especially in the southwest areas. some wind gusts may even reach 50MPH. Temperatures during the day Sunday will struggle to reach even the upper 30s, it may feel much cooler with wind chills. so for Sunday Expect windy cold and snowy weather for all of the area. I will be taken photos!

Looking ahead Monday and Monday Night looks Very cold. highs will be in the Upper 30s to low 40s looks like it skies will be Cloudy to Partly Cloudy. Monday night could be the coldest night of the season so far, Under partly cloudy skies tempetures could get as cold as the low 20s.

System moving in Rain likely, Then MUCH Colder, Snow possible for the weekend

Image from NWS

A fairly large weather system will be moving across Wisconsin, A low pressure system will move from Iowa across eastern Wisconsin into Upper Michigan. Temperature will actually be warming up until Saturday then a Major cold front and weather system moves in, Saturday Night into Sunday. First I will talk about whats coming up for the next few days. As this system moves though Rain showers and Cloudy weather will be likely. Friday and Friday night seems to have the best chance for Rain showers. The low pressure system will pull in warm more mild air, highs will be in the upper 40s to low 50s. and lows in the upper 30s to low 40s. Saturday will be the warmest day, before the Major cold front moves in. Highs on Saturday should be in the low to mid 50s. with a chance of Rain.

Saturday night is when the Cold front and a weather system from Canada, will start to move in from the northwest. Temperatures will take a dive once the cold front goes though. also with this front will come very gusty Northwest Winds. lows on Saturday night will range. but should generally be in the low to mid 30s. there is a slight chance of Rain and Snow showers overnight. Sunday Will be Cold and Windy northwest winds could gust to 40MPH With Snow showers likely. with the best chance of Snow in the north. high temperatures will be slow to reach but only will be in the upper 30s to low 40s for Sunday. Sunday night, Snow chances continue. and low Temperatures will be cold they should range from the mid 20s to low 30s

This System has a better chance of bringing the First snowflakes of the season to Northwest Wisconsin people should prepare for colder temperatures and Snow this weekend into the upcoming week I will bring updates and photos if Snow falls in my area.
Here Is a photo Of my Bald Cypress Tree I would like to share. It's turned colors, This tree has been here for a year and a half, These trees are native to the South! looks like it can take Northern winter pretty well!

Cold Weather Pattern, A Snowy Winter?

Our Front Lawn October 20Th

Weather: Some of the coldest air of the season is over the area, a Cold Night is ahead for Monday night some places of the north could see temperatures as low as the mid 20s Cold, Below freezing weather is likely for all of the 6 county area. It looks like we are going into a cool weather pattern because it will remain cool though-out the week. Tuesday looks like the nicest day with Sunshine and highs in the low 50s, Wednesday a large weather system will begin to effect the area most of this system should slide off to the south. but it will bring a chances of Showers along with cool weather. Highs on Wednesday are only expected to be in the upper 40s to low 50s, but upper 40s are more likely for the high on Wednesday. Wednesday Night, it will be cold and wet with a chance of showers best chance of showers south, all areas will have temps in the mid 30s. The Cool cloudy weather will stay around into Thursday, highs will only be in the mid to upper 40s with the best chance of 50s south. it looks like this cool weather pattern will stay. with nigh time lows getting into the 20s and mid 30s every night though Thursday night.

Snowy Winter? A cold snowy winter ahead? it's nearing the End of October and normally most of Northwest Wisconsin gets at least half an inch of snow, by the 31st. So whats ahead for this winter? Only time will tell but, most forecasters are saying we will have a snowier then normal winter! Also forecasters are saying it we should have a cold winter also, with the coldest part of the winter earlier in the season. I will be watching this and bringing Snowfall reports data to my Blog be sure to check my Priep Totals! that's where my Snowfall information will be.

Very cold weather not too far to come? It looks like the weather could get Very cold in the next upcoming week. although it's still in the early forecasting stage it looks like HIGHS could be in the 30s in some places also it looks like we will have our first chance of SNOW with that cold air mass the chance is not high but the chance is there. This will be something to watch closely more on this to come!

Weekend Weather- Sunny- to Cloudy small chance of Rain.

Fall weather Oct 17Th 2008

There is a chance that there will be some Sunshine for Saturday! but it looks like it skies across Northwest Wisconsin will range from sunny to partly sunny so only some communities will see the sun, highs on Saturday should be in the mid to upper 50s. Saturday Night will be warmer then it has been the past few nights, it should be mostly cloudy for all of the 6 county area. lows will only fall into the low 40s. Sunday looks more cloudy and just a small chance of rain, but the chance for rain is not high and any chance of rain would be late in the day, so most communities will just see a Cloudy to partly cloudy Sunday, highs will range from the mid to upper 50s again. Sunday night will be cooler highs will be in the upper 30s across Northern Burnett and Washburn counties to the low 40s in Polk,Barron,Dunn and St Croix counties.

Looking ahead. Looks like a large system will be heading into the Midwest early next week. it could effect the weather here for Days, with rainy and much cooler weather, more on this later on. enjoy the weekend!

Drier and much Cooler. normal computer is down.

Golden Back walnut glowing in the morning sun October 14Th

There was a bit of sun this morning but now things have clouded over. Much cooler weather has moved into the area after a strong cold front moved though on Monday afternoon, which gave most areas about .30 of rain. Looking ahead it looks like a cool weather pattern will continue. with highs in the mid to upper 50s though Thursday, Then an even cooler day Friday highs in the low 50s! lows on Friday night, temps could be near freezing for many areas, before it warms back up a bit Saturday. lows will be in the mid 30s to low 40s, Fall colors are very eye catching this week yellow is the most popular color I've seen but there are some fiery orange in some soft maples. I've seen some very pretty colors on Prentice street in Clayton enjoy the fall colors!

My Forecast Guess My

Wednesday: partly sunny to partly cloudy, with a chance of rain for the southern areas, Highs in the low to mid 50s
Wednesday Night: partly cloudy to mostly cloudy Cool, with clearing later. lows in the low to mid 30s north where freezing temps are possible to upper 30s and low 40s south.
Thursday: mostly sunny to partly cloudy highs in the low to mid 50s
Thursday night: Partly cloudy to Cloudy lows in the upper 30s to low 40s with a chance of showers north.

My normal computer is down so that is why there is no forecast picture. hopefully it will be fixed soon. I will try to keep my blog as updated as possible!

peak color expected by this weekend, Fall color Photos, Weekend Wet forecast

Peak Fall Colors in maple trees along County road D in Clayton,WI

Fall colors are very high and are expected to be at peak color by Saturday. Earlier changing trees are already at peak. fall Color seems to be very vibrant this year across my area!! Other areas are near or at peak already. Rice Lake is reporting Peak colors as well as Luck. Grantsburg, Spooner Menomonie and Hudson are all near peak. This weekend will be a great time to get out there and enjoy all the fall colors! But, the forecast does call for Wet conditions so unfortunately you will have to enjoy the fall colors with a chance of Rain and Thunderstorms with a large Warm and Cold front system moving in from the west.

here is my forecast guess try to get out there and enjoy the peak fall colors! even with the wet weather!

Later to come? It could turn cold after Tuesday of next week. with highs only in the mid 50s as a strong cold front moves though on Tuesday more on this later.

Rainy and Cloudy, Sunny weather to come.

Rainy Fall weather October 7Th

We have had rain and clouds from a large system for the past 3 days. a Break is about to come. Clouds should begin to break up later tonight and Wednesday should bring mostly sunny skies, which should last into Thursday, even if it's not sunny it will be dry! with high temperatures in the low to mid 60s both days. From the rain most places picked up over 0.50 of rain with some places getting more like 1 inch my rain gauge picked up just over 1 inch. This rainy weather defiantly feels like fall!

Fall colors have really exploded over the past few days many trees are in color over 50% of the foliage has turned Oaks are turning red. Birch is turning Yellow and maples are orange and red but losing leaves fast! there is still green on the landscape, but we will be nearing peak very soon as trees are turning fast each day. Please keep checking back for my Fall Foliage report from Clayton. in southeast Polk County!

Wet weather should last though most of next week. with a good chance of Showers and Thunderstorm everyday. with the wet weather it will be warmer with highs getting into the 60s and night lows staying in the upper 40s to low 50s

Special plant?

here is one of my plants that I thought would be interesting to share. this is a Geranium. which was giving to me by someone named Evelyn from Dallas,WI where she is a neighbor of my Grandparents. I believe this plant is at least 20 years old, bark has developed on the lower parts of the plant, and instead of being the shape of a bush, it has more of a small tree shape. what she would do is hang them from her garage in the winter and them plant them back outdoors in the summer! this year I'm going to try to overwinter it in the house, instead of drying them out because Last year I lost one.
