Coldest temps of the season so far overnight all places below zero

Snow drifts on a Cold clear Day Dec 11th.

This morning brought the coldest temps of the season so far, All places fell below zero this morning. some places were as cold as -13.F but one station Southwest of Grantsburg reported a -18.F temp. this is one of the first times the temps fell below zero this season, The actual first day was yesterday Dec 10th when temps fell around -6.F Highs yesterday only made it into the mid single digits my high was 6 above! Area lakes are now completely frozen, Although larger lakes like Balsam Lake or Rice Lake may have some open spots.

The coldest spot was a station southwest of Grantsburg, and traditional cold spots like Osceola. the warmest spot was Frederic in northern Polk County. Temperatures will slowly moderate through the weekend, See my forecast post below.

We got below zero as well, but certainly not as far below as you guys out west. I would guess most people do not realize how cold the NW part of the state gets. My -13 last winter ain't no thing to you guys. :)

LOL O! that is really funny! yeah Were cold here in the northwest. But ND is even colder yet! thankfull the air moderates some before getting here and even more before reaching you. Wouldn't it be fun to compare temperatues this winter?

I think it would be fun. Shoot me your temp data thus far and I'll compare them graphically... or something.

thats a good idea O, but how do I send you the information? it would take a long time to type 2 years worth of temps.

D, I'll make it easy on you. Take a picture of your data and send it to me. I'll enter the data into a spreadsheet. For now, let's start the comparison this November... I'd like to see a photo of Nov and Dec thus far. Cool?!

Looks like you received some frigid weather! Down here in SE WI, it wasn't too bad. :)
