Cold and Cloudy May 1st 2011
Today was a very cold day across Western Wisconsin for early May standards, Highs during the actual daylight hours did not even reach the low 40s in all areas, some areas barely even reached the mid 30s for highs, which is 30 degrees below the normal high temperatures that we should be having this time of year. To makes things worse, winds blew up to 30MPH at times, and with the cold came off an on SNOW flurries mixed with drizzle at time. The snow did not accumulate. Many think this weather was quite ridiculous for weather in early May, and instead of wearing shorts and enjoying a weekend outdoors, people staid bundled up and were inside once again due to another awful weekend for weather.
My location broke the coldest 4 year 24 hour daytime high reading in May, with a high of 44.F, Which was recorded at midnight. The actual high temperature during the daylight hours was 37.F, but wind chills made it feel like it was in the upper 20s to low 30s at times.
High temperatures recorded during actual daylight hours
The coldest high temperature was 34.F in Spooer and the "warmest" high was 41 in Menomonie.
