April 20th Snow
Western Wisconsin was plagued by yet another snowfall event on Wednesday, making it continue to feel more like winter then spring. Snow reports have been pretty bleak and few with this system, but Generally 1-2 inches was reported throughout the entire area from north to south. Some areas did not get as much as they could have! (sigh of relief)
Snow accumulation of springs first lilac sprouts of the season.
2 inches of snow fell at my location, It started on Tuesday evening and lasted into Wednesday afternoon. This snowfall was much wetter then the one on Sunday because temperatures were mainly above 32.F. by Sunrise the snow kinda lost it's ability to accumulate, and the snow on the ground was already showing signs of melting by 12PM. The good news is this snowfall was much less damaging to spring bulbs because of the warmer temperatures.
This system brought my total monthly April snowfall total too 5.75" which is 4.25" above the normal amount of 1" for my area, which is typically seen in the first week or two of the month. This also marks the 6th month in a row that I've had above normal snowfall, meaning every month this winter had normal, or above normal snowfall! My seasonal average is now 88.0" which is 42 inches above normal, with the average winter snowfall being 46.0" Many are saying we had one heck of a long, cold and snowy winter, and we are more then ready for some warmer temperatures so spring can continue!
