Record high temperatures for June 7th were shattered across the area this afternoon as highs warmed to the triple digits 100 degree readings across a widespread part of the area! The extremely hot air came in on Monday behind a warm front that brought the northern side of a very warm airmass that has covered the entire eastern half of the country.

My stations 3 year old record high of 95.F was completely obliterated today as my station rose to a high of 100.F. The heat was very prolonged all day, Even before 10AM in the morning the temperature was already in the lower 80s and quickly reached 90 before noon, then in then afternoon it became breezy, the dewpoint began lowering, Once I saw the Osceola official station reach 100.F I knew it would not be long before mine did as well, then shorty after 4pm the temperature rose to 100.F at my location. After the high was reached, the heat held around well into the night time hours it was 85.F as even as 11:30PM approached.

I was very shocked the area managed to reach triple digit numbers, so much so that even though I had digital stations reading the highs, I had to take a picture of this easy to read thermometer to show myself it truly does happens here! As I've posted last year in July I've heard much about 100 degree heat around here when I was young, but never actually seen and experienced it and I really never thought the first time I would see a thermometer read 100.F would be at my own house!

Now if anyone asks what 100.F degree heat feels like, I can answer it! With the humidity we had it feels extremely hot to people and animals alike. There was no relief anywhere outdoors even in deep shade it felt exhausting. Even though winds were gusting to 30MPH at times there was a very warm wind, I liked my friends expression of the wind "it was like opening an oven door" It was definitely a heat like no other.

Finally, Here are the highest temperatures reported from across our local area, rare upper 90 to 100 degree temperatures were widespread throughout the entire local area. The highest reported temperature was from River Falls with 101.F, and the lowest was 94.F from Spooner. The stations with the * symbol represent official NWS stations, and even they were topping 100.F today!

Impressive that the timing of you saving the image from TWC a 102 was current in MPS. I only got to 93.5 in backyard. Still hot, but no 100.
Yes it was an impressivly hot day, Minneapolis ended up with a high of 103.F that day, the warmest in many years for them as well as us! I'm sure with the humidty you had it proably didn't feel much cooler there that day!
