A shelf cloud which passed just south of my house.
Well Typical June weather, Un predictable! Early This morning, Storms Developed over Central MN, and moved east, Then a second area of storms developed over the Twin Cities. This sent two waves of Strong storms across the South half of the area, The first one Went though St Croix and Dunn counties The radar hail indicator icons kept bouncing between 0.75 inch and 1.00 inch hail. There were no reports of severe hail, But I would believe at least some hail definitely would have fell somewhere. Also this storm brought lots of lightning and very heavy rain to places like Glenwood City and Menomonie. Gusty winds may have also been seen. This storm had no reports of damage.
Information about the storm which produced a Shelf cloud near me: As the first storm was passing though Dunn county I watched a very small embedded bowing storm develop near Osceola, it got the strongest Just south of Amery. By looking at the radar this storm was not producing rain like a strong storm typically does. this storm to appear weaker. I was surprised at what happened next. I watched a fairly large and very fast moving Shelf cloud pass me Just to the south. like maybe two blocks south. I thought it was pretty neat to watch, mostly because I was not expected a shelf cloud. It did get windy here as this cloud passed. But the worst winds would have been just to my south. It would have gone right over Clear Lake, so I believe that area would have gotten some strong winds. There was no reports of damage. But they were definitely strong storms, and it did make for some cool-looking clouds!
