Photo Taken around 2:30PM ( Sorry about the bad quality. )
There was grass Fire in Minnesota today, North of the Major part of the Minneapolis/St Paul Metro, According to KSTP5 news, 7 homes had to be evacuated due to the fire, but no one was hurt, Smoke from the fire could be seen as far away as Western Wisconsin, people who had a good Western view, could clearly see the smoke. The smoke could be seen pretty good here in southeast Polk County, I was out taking pictures today after 2PM and I saw what almost looked like storm clouds to the West, but I knew there was no storms out there, so I decided to take a picture Because I never seen something like that in the sky before, You can kinda see the whitish mass here in this photo I took. Then later in the afternoon I looked at the Radar, and I could clearly see something on Radar
GRleveaL3 Radar shot taken at 3PM
There was no actual preip falling anywhere, This Fire was so large, and Smoke rose so high, could be detected on Radar, which is shown as Precipitation here, You can clearly see the blue and green in southeast Anoka County,MN streching all the way down to Hastings,MN, to the west of the area. smoke was blown be strong north, north west winds, Here is an Article from KSTP5 in St Paul,MN Which has more on the fire.

Whoa! Craziness! Nice job capturing the moment, D. I like that you put it all together with the radar image.
I agree with OSNW3, craziness! Also, on your last entry, nice video and pictures of early spring!
Thankyou guys! yeah I know I felt so lucky, By the time I found out it was a fire, the smoke was already gone!
Thanks for the info. on the grass fire from the other day..I didn't even know about this until I read ur post about it. Thank you. It's amazing that radar can pick up on the smoke plumes from fires...I wonder if the smoke plume was evident on the visible satellite image?
