Some people that woke up Late Last Night around 2AM would have seen the first accumulation of snow this season! I did my best to take photos, I was Lucky I even got to see the snow! soon after it fell it melted, it was almost gone by daybreak! we got an accumulation of half an inch (0.50) of wet snow over the night here at my place. so we have not got an Inch yet this season, the poll still goes on! There were no other snowfall reports. but I'm sure most places saw some accumulations

Snow should continue today as colder air and snow shower wrap around the low pressure that has been effecting our weather for the past few days. if the snow becomes heavier some places could get around 1 inch of snow accumulation. Saturday night snow chances wind down. with the best chance of snow early, not much accumulation should fall. lows Saturday night will fall between the low to mid 20s across the area. Sunday will be Very Cold compared to what it was, skies on Sunday should remain mostly cloudy but may have some small chances at sun. Highs Sunday will only be in the low to mid 30s some places in the north may not even get above Freezing tomorrow other areas will be at or just above freezing for Highs Sunday.
Sunday night it will still be cloudy may be some clearing... lows will be even cooler yet low temps will be in the upper teens to low 20s
Lake Effect Snows will effect northern,WI north of My area, Winter Weather Advisorys are in effect please go to Nathan's blog at, Northern Wisconsin Weather he has some great info on the snowfall totals from this system in his area Washburn-Ashland,WI
looking ahead it looks like our weather will begin to clear up Sometime Monday or Monday Night and by Tuesday We should have Mostly Sunny and Dry weather, but the sunshine will not help out high temperatures much it will stay cool with highs it the upper 30s to low 40s and lows in the low to mid 20s next chance for precipitation will be Thursday. looks like at this time it could be snow and rain

Nice work, Derek. As I noted on the chat box we almost had measurable snow, but to no avail. I also used a car to note the accumulation... click here for photo. Looks like Nathan is all set up to measure for the NWS... *cheers* to an awesome Winter season!
Yep and I will be here this winter to record the snowfall I'll o Check out Nathan's Site!
I see some white stuff on your car there, dang so close to the first accumulation for you!
finely after the first snow of the season and half inch of snow the Bald Cypress is starting to lose leaves! that tree can really hold onto it's leaves long after the other trees are bare.
Derek, you know plenty about trees. I've been having a hard time determining what kind of tree I have in my backyard. I've looked at a few books and I come to the conclusion that it's gotta be some sorta Elm.
If you have time could please take a look for yourself and maybe give a specific name to this tree?

I've got some Summer photos if that will help... let me know.
Sure I would love to help you find out what kind of tree you have! I looked at all four of your photos. and to my best guess, I would say you have an American Basswood Tree good guess with the Elm, but to me the shape of the tree does not tell me it's Elm, and the leaves in your photos look more rounded like an American Basswood. Basswood trees can have winged seeds that have a yellow wings and the seeds kinda look like berries they are normally later turning trees, look up American Basswood in google search and tell me if it looks like the tree you have?
I checked it out, via google, and yes indeed it is an American Basswood! I appreciate you helping me out on this, thanks!! I am going to look back at the books I used and try to figure out why there was any doubt... :)
