Snow This weekend Minor Accumulations possible.

Sunny Weather for Friday highs are expected to be in the upper 30s to low 40s! enjoy the sunshine!
Weather map for Saturday Saturday Night and Sunday total snowfall accumulations by Sunday morning are in light blue on the map.

Saturday a fast moving low will begin to effect the area, this low will move just east of the area a bit more east then expected. so Less snow accumulation is likely., there is a good chance snow late in the day, especially southeast. Snow on Saturday night could be light to moderate, Snow will linger into Sunday. Snow totals by Sunday Morning will range, but the heaviest totals will be in Dunn county where 1-2 inches could fall. St Croix Polk and Barron counties will have 0.50 1 inch, with the least snow likely falling in Burnett County. but most places will see anywhere from a Trace t0 possible 3 inches. This system is hard to forecast for because if there is any slight shift in where the low goes totals will be different But I think the ground will be white in most places by Sunday. Sunday night we clear out and cold air spills in, with Clear to partly cloudy skies lows could be in the low teens to the low single digit's. Monday we will have Sunshine and Cool weather, highs will only be in the mid to upper 20s. with low 30s possible.
This photo was taken Thanksgiving Day this is my aunts Very Large Thanksgiving Cactus, which is covered in red flowers! She says this plant is at least 20 years old and very hard to transplant! hope you all had a good Thanksgiving.

Sunny Dry Weather for the up coming days! Missed one day in Severe Thunderstorm days

Tuesday Morning November 25th

Heavy Snow formed along a weak low pressure and cold front in Minnesota Yesterday,  snow actually came down heavy at times. The snow Fell heaviest in Western areas like New Richmond...Osceola and Hudson. But all areas are reported snow. Snow totals here in Clayton were got 1" inch of fluffy snow. Dirk near Rice Lake also reported 1".  With this snowcover Temps last night got colder then expected lows were commonly in the upper single Digits last night. This snow is a sticking snow, it just may last though Thanksgiving! Cool Nowcast Issued! Tuesday afternoon when snow became heavy, I reported to the NWS my snowfall report of Quarter Inch at that time. just after I reported that, the NWS issued a Short term forecast based on my report! This has never happened from my report before, so I found it very neat! please click Here to see a video of the nowcast from my new weather radio.
Weather Map for Tuesday  Tuesday Night and Wednesday

We will have Dry Sunny weather as high pressure moves into Minnesota and Wisconsin this High will bring sunny weather and calm winds for the next few days! Tuesday We will have Partly Cloudy to Sunny skies. Temperatures will be in the low to mid 30s all across the area. Tuesday Night should be Clear to Partly Cloudy with light winds temps will drop off into the low teens north to mid teens, With the added snowcover. Wednesday will be Nice for November! but now as warm as first thought, Snowcover may limit highs, It will be Sunny with light winds Temperatures will reach the mid to upper 30s. For Thanksgiving There is a Chance for snow that has moved up to during the day Thursday. It looks like it should be light, but this system does has the chance to bring up to an inch of snow at the most right now.  I will bring updates.

Thursday Night into Friday we may have a system come though and bring the chance for light snow I'm not yet sure on the accumulations but they look to be light.

I read back though my book and found that I missed a Severe Thunderstorm Day please go back and see the following post for information!

Warmer but somewhat snowy Severe Thunderstorm Days last season.

We were clipped by a clipper system moving southeast, mainly western areas saw a Trace of snow.
Weather map for Sunday, Sunday Night and Monday

Warmer more mild air will move in from the west tonight, and we will have warmer weather for Sunday With the warmer air will come a chance for some drizzle or light snow, nothing heavy.  Because the ground is frozen and below 32.F the warmer more humid air may cause some fog or freezing fog so watch out for that. Sunday Night temps will not fall off to much low to mid 20s is what should end up with. there is a chance for Snow showers, light snow that is with not much accumulation. Monday will be colder with highs back into the upper 20s and low 30s with a slight chance for snow. and the best chance for snow north.

Looking ahead Monday Night there will still be a slight chance for snow mainly east and early in the evening. Then we will have clearing skies. Looks like a Sunny warmer strip of weather for Tuesday though Thanksgiving! Sunny weather with temps in the low to upper 30s is what it looks like right now! we should have Quite weather for Thanksgiving this year unlike some years! looks like we will not have a white Thanksgiving, but there is still a chance!

Severe Thunderstorm days over the past season.

Just a statement I thought would be neat to share. here in Clayton,WI We had Severe Thunderstorm conditions 4 times during the season. The First one was May 25th when a storm moved out of Minnesota and caused an F3 Tornado in the northeast Metro of Hugo,MN in the Twin Cities. This storm moved east into Wisconsin and dropped Penny sized hail. I also reported that it brought gusty winds and heavy rain in a short amount of time. The Second time was July 14th when a line of Thunderstorms with a section of the line being tornado warned. I reported that rotation was 3-4 miles north of Clayton, while the gusty side went right though here and caused a pine tree top to be snapped off. The Third event was also in July, a line of Thunderstorms and gust front moved quickly though, and blew a large tree into a field near my house. Also reported very heavy rain with 1 inch in total in just 40 minutes. The Last event occurred during early Fall September 17th Storms quickly developed north of Amery and moved east I reported dime sized hail, ripping out Turing fall leaves.

While these were the only 4 times I report actual Severe Thunderstorm conditions we had many strong storms this past season, We went under a Tornado Warning with Sirens sounding 2 times and we were under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning 3 times.   The information for this statement came from my Precipitation Book, Written by me.
Dirk of my neighboring county- Barron County has also decide to do a report of Severe Thunderstorm Days in his area he has some great information on severe storms there! please go to Dirks Forecasting Center Blog  to see!

Cold Tonight even Colder tomorrow?

Weather map for Thursday, Thursday Night and Friday

Cold light winds from the northwest behind a cold front will bring in very cold Temperatures for the next few days. Thursday, skies will range from party sunny to sunny and highs will only reach the low to mid 20s. Thursday Night will be Very cold, With Wind chills below zero possible with gustier winds, There will be a chance of a few snow showers in the far north, with lows dipping into the upper single digits in the south but low single digits north. Friday a High Pressure system will be overhead, so we should have Sunny skies, clouds may hold on in the north. much of the same for high temps, highs will be in the low 20s north, with mid 20s south.

Friday Night looks to be a VERY Cold one in the north. looking like that it will be the coldest night of the season, lows in Northern Burnett and Washburn counties could drop as low 1.F close to 0.F while lows in the south stay in the mid to upper single digits stay warm!

While I've been talking about cold weather outside, This Yellow Thanksgiving cactus is in full bloom! it looks kinda White in this photo, but actually this is a Yellow one called Gold Charm, I've heard that yellow is rare for Thanksgiving Cactus. still 2 other have yet to bloom I will post photos later!

Cold Monday Night, Wednesday a bit warmer.

Cold frosty morning November 18th

Last night Tempetures drop like a rock! and fell to there coldest levels so far this season. as an Arctic High settled over the area lows as cold as the upper single digits were reported here are a few reports!
Woodville 8.F
Osceola 9.F
Spooner 11.F
Rice Lake 11.F
Clayton 12.F
Menomonie 18.F

Weather Map for Wednesday

Looks like Early Wednesday Morning a Warm Front will come though from the Southwest bring a chance for some light Freezing Drizzle or Snow early. Skies will likely stay mostly cloudy with highs a bit warmer then the past days highs will warm into the mid to upper 30s with a chance for 40s south. Wednesday night just a slight chance for snow. mainly in the East with lows only falling into the upper teens and low 20s. Wednesday Night and Thursday the cold front moves though and will bring a chance for flurries, then Thursday Night might even be colder then Monday Night, so yet again the coldest night of the season may come on Thursday Night when temps are forecasted to be in the low teens to upper single digits.

Looking ahead it looks like things will being to get warmer though the week with highs as warm as the upper 30s and it now looks like we may have a chance for accumulating snow over the next week.

Clipper System

 Light Snow November 16th

We currently have Light snow falling outside with temperatures in the low to mid 20s all across the area, the snow is sticking! The snow is light and powerdy. This snow if from a fast moving Clipper system moving southeast, Not all of the area is seeing the snow, most of the snow is West of a line from Siren to Cumberland and Dallas, but the heaviest snow is in Southwest Polk and St Croix Counties, places like Osceola, New Richmond and Hudson are seeing some heavier snow. Total Accumulations from this event could range from a Dusting to 0.50" or 1" in areas with heavier snow west of Frederic. Clayton and Prairie Farm here in Clayton so far we have gotten a Quarter Inch- .25. I will update this post with how much more we get! Weather over the next few days will stay cold Expect Lingering Snow showers Tonight and Monday but little to no more accumulations. Lows tonight will be in the upper teens in the Danbury and Minong areas, to the low 20s in the south.  Monday Maybe some snow showers early then maybe some clearing later. Highs will Not make it above freezing with the warmest areas south, and reaching only the low 30s, below 32 with Highs in the north only in the mid 20s! Monday Night Very Cold weather will settle in, under clear to Partly Cloudy skies Temperatures will drop! lows should be in the low teens with Upper single digits possible, mainly in the north, But a Very cold night ahead for Monday Keep the fire nice and hot! Tuesday We should see Sunshine but Highs only in the upper 20s and low 30s.

It looks like we are getting into a Dry but Winter like weather pattern over the week with Cold sunshine and highs on some days reaching the low to mid 30s but most days staying in the upper 20s and low 30s with nights in the teens!

Thanksgiving Cactus in bloom!

Here is a photo of my Thanksgiving Cactus and yes it's not a Christmas Cactus! it's a very close cousin of Chrismas Cactus, There is not even much of a difference in between the plants! but you can tell it's a Thanksgiving Cactus by the sharp points and that then tend to bloom in November rather then December, The plant in the photo came with buds! so I kinda cheated this year, I have some others that I will post photos of later once they bloom.

Rain Today, cooler tomorrow with snow chances

Image from NWS

Early this morning we had Moderate rain showers scattered though out the area with some places picking up two tenths of an inch of rain, what a Flip in weather since yesterdays 1 inch of snow! Friday a cold front will move though. so highs may start out in the mid to upper 30s but then drop in the afternoon. with a better chance of Rain and Snow, mostly all snow later on in the day it also looks like northwest winds will be a bit gusty. Friday Night snow chances continue with lows dropping into the mid to upper 20s Saturday there is still a chance of snow mainly early, snow totals by this time could be around an from inch to a trace by Saturday afternoon. Highs on Saturday will be cold they will only reach the low to mid 30s Saturday night we get a break from the snow skies will be mostly to partly cloudy and lows will get in the low to mid 20s upper teens possible. Sunday more snow showers move into the area highs will be in the low to mid 30s accumulations are possible.

Snow chances will continue into Sunday Night and Monday. with lows in the low to mid 20s and highs only in the low to mid 30s Monday Night things will clear out some what which could possible make for a very cold night low teens are possible! after a cool start too the week a spike in temps is forecasted for Wednesday with highs getting into the 40s then Cold air fills in right behind it again late next week! so up and down temperatures!

Image from NWS

Weather Update. First the Coldest temps of the season are likely to happen Monday Night lows are forecasted to get into the mid to upper teens I would to be surprised to see some low teens in some places. Tuesday  It looks like we will have chances for Rain and snow tomorrow, mainly after Noon as a low pressure system moves northeast near the area. Highs will be in the mid to upper 30s and it may even start off Mostly Sunny! then a Slight chance of rain and Snow in the afternoon. Tuesday Night we will have a better chance for all Snow. Snow may even be moderate at times, Snow Accumulations could be around 1-2 to as much as 3 Inches, with the best chance for accumulation southeast of a line from Somerset to Amery to Spooner. Some places have the chance to see there first one Inch of Snow so of the season, be prepared for moderate snow Tuesday Night with minor Accumulations possible! The Weather will stay Active Wednesday night we will begin to see chances for Snow and Rain. With a few low pressure systems, Thursday we will have the chance for warmer and rainy weather, then Thursday Night turning back to Snow with snow chances though Friday Night  Accumulations are possible!

first accumulation of snow this Season Very Cold Sunday!

Red Bald Cypress tree and snowcover November 8th

Some people that woke up Late Last Night around 2AM would have seen the first accumulation of snow this season! I did my best to take photos, I was Lucky I even got to see the snow! soon after it fell it melted, it was almost gone by daybreak! we got an accumulation of half an inch (0.50) of wet snow over the night here at my place. so we have not got an Inch yet this season, the poll still goes on! There were no other snowfall reports. but I'm sure most places saw some accumulations

Snow Accumulation on the car.

Image from NWS

Snow should continue today as colder air and snow shower wrap around the low pressure that has been effecting our weather for the past few days. if the snow becomes heavier some places could get around 1 inch of snow accumulation. Saturday night snow chances wind down. with the best chance of snow early, not much accumulation should fall. lows Saturday night will fall between the low to mid 20s across the area. Sunday will be Very Cold compared to what it was, skies on Sunday should remain mostly cloudy but may have some small chances at sun. Highs Sunday will only be in the low to mid 30s some places in the north may not even get above Freezing tomorrow other areas will be at or just above freezing for Highs Sunday.
Sunday night it will still be cloudy may be some clearing... lows will be even cooler yet low temps will be in the upper teens to low 20s

Lake Effect Snows will effect northern,WI north of My area, Winter Weather Advisorys are in effect please go to Nathan's blog at, Northern Wisconsin Weather  he has some great info on the snowfall totals from this system in his area Washburn-Ashland,WI

looking ahead it looks like our weather will begin to clear up Sometime Monday or Monday Night and by Tuesday We should have Mostly Sunny and Dry weather, but the sunshine will not help out high temperatures much it will stay cool with highs it the upper 30s to low 40s and lows in the low to mid 20s next chance for precipitation will be Thursday. looks like at this time it could be snow and rain

Strong winds and heavy rain hit the area

Storm Front November 6Th

Strong showers with strong winds and very heavy rain hit as a cold front swept though the area from a Low pressure system. The photo above is the front of a line of storms that hit my place. the clouds were moving very fast. these storms were moving north at 40MPH! We got Extremely heavy blinding heavy rain and VERY Strong winds as this storm front with a sudden gust of wind leaves that were left on late trees flew everywhere! it looks like mostly the Western areas were hit by these storms... Woodville reported a Gust of 46MPH 47MPH gust was reported east of Somerset. and 39MPH gust in  Amery. Below is a video of the strong winds from the storm, this was taken during the worst of the rain/winds. my next post will give info about the snow that we get!

Snow Chances Friday and Saturday

Image from NWS

A Large storm system is spinning around the Upper Midwest Bringing rain and Thunderstorms to Northwest Wisconsin. the Low will continue to move east and cold air will wrap up into the low Starting later Thursday highs will drop into the upper 40s during the afternoon, With Showers and Thunderstorms likely. Thursday Night will be cooler then the past few nights but not cool enough for snow, lows will drop into the upper 30s and low 40s. Friday is when the rain should turn to snow here in Wisconsin, it will start out as rain but as more cold air wraps in it will turn to a Rain/Snow mix, then Snow after 12:00pm Friday. Highs will be around the mid to low 40s Friday then cooling in the afternoon.

Friday Night we will have Rain and snow possible early, then a good chance of snow overnight lows will be steady in the mid 30s for Friday Night.
Saturday will be Cold!! Highs will only be in the low to mid 30s with a good chance of Snow Showers all day it then, Saturday night the snow will tapper, to Scattered Flurries, lows will be in the low to mid 20s. I'm not sure how much Accumulation will happen over the next few days but the best chance for Accumulation will be Friday Night and Saturday. Depending if the low will stay stronger and how early it turns too snow, I'm going to guess that we could see accumulation up too possibly 1 inch. but that's only if it turns out we will see! most places will just have the ground whitened.
