Wet weather continues, Next system starting late Monday good chance of rain Tuesday.

Forecast map for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Put together by me.

Time to already get busy forecasting again because our next system will already start to effect us late Monday, our wet weather pattern will continue. But I do think most of Monday will stay dry, but it will remain Cloudy with maybe some sun peaks early. Late Monday/overnight Monday Night is when I believe the rain will start coming in for our area. Tuesday holds our best chances of rain, and those chances are looking likely, So Tuesday will be rainy and There could even be some heavier showers best chance of the heaviest showers before 2pm I believe. one path I believe this system could take is it could steer a bit south and that would mean less rain for us, but this path isn't looking like a very good one, instead I think it will take a path that would give us more rain, Which is why I think Tuesday will be a rainy day for sure. but I believe rainfall amounts should be less then our last system, but still ammounts over an inch are possible! Wednesday showers will end and we might even have a but of clearing late Wednesday. Detailed forecast below.

Monday, Cool, Maybe some sunny spot early, then Mostly Cloudy, Rain chances starting in the afternoon, highs in the low 50s. Monday Night a good chance of rain, some showers possibly heavy, lows in the low 40s.

Tuesday, Cool A good chance of rain, some possible heavy early, then showers turning more scattered in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 40s to low 50s. Tuesday Night, Scattered showers, lows in the low 40s.

Wednesday, A chance of a Scattered shower best chance early, then Cloudy, then some clearing possible late, Highs in the low 50s. Wednesday Night, Partly cloudy lows in the low 40s, Upper 30s north.

Looking ahead, Thursday we should get a break from wet weather, and we might actually have some sunshine! But Then it is looking like we could have one of our 1st Big Cool downs of the season Friday/Saturday Late next week, The forecast models have been holding steady on a Very cold air mass coming down, I've got to say, Right now it looks like a quite cold one, We might even have the chance to have our 1st Snow Flakes of the season with this air mass, which would really make for very cold night time lows, Some spots may be dealing with a deep freeze. Things could change but, this is a system that needs to be watched closely. More information and updates in coming forecasts.

Saturday Oct 3rd Fall Color Report

Photo showing what colors are here, in the woods across from my house, but still mainly green.

Fall Color has starting to increase in change this week, as we head through the 1st week of October. Some of the trees that had color late last month have actually lost all there leave, These were mainly Ash trees that turned early. This year we really seem to be holding on to Green more then last year. Fall color report.

Here is my list of fall color reports Grantsburg is already reporting Peak Color or near peak, in Burnett County! Rice Lake, Luck, and My Report here in Clayton is now reporting Moderate Color, Dirk Northwest of Rice Lake in Barron country is reporting near peak color, and Hudson and Menomonie are also now reporting at least some color Low color for those areas. I expect colors to starting turning much faster now that we have gotten a frost, and the past cool days.

Colors are really starting to show in Maples This week!

Here is a picture of color that has showed up in Maple this week behind our house, I have really noticed color in all Maples this week, Many Maples in Clayton are turning, Ash trees which have slowed in color last week is starting to pick up speed again, The Ash in our back yard are turning very slowly yellow, The color one that was turning yellow lost all of it's colored leaves. Birch Oak and Poplar are still green, and this is why I went with the low end of Moderate Color category, Looking on the landscape you can see Scattered trees that have color, You are now able to see spotty trees with color. but most color is still green. Peak Colors are likely not far behind for most areas!

Large Low Pressure System, Everyone got some rain early this week!

Rainy conditions October 1st.

A large pretty impressive slow moving area of low pressure has brought us Cold, Wet and Windy weather the past 2 days, I actually found it kinda odd in how quickly the weather changed from Frost and Freeze on Wednesday, To Rain Thursday, I always remembered in the past normally after we had frost it always seemed to stay sunny for a few days afterwords but this time we this system move in the next day!

It looks like everyone in the 6 county area picked up good rainfall totals, Most places pick up at least an inch of rain, and Radar estimates that some locations pick up as much as 3 inches in the Grantsburg/Siren area! This rain will definitely help out drought conditions a bit. The heaviest rain came overnight Thursday Night, Then Friday the area had wrap around scattered showers and drizzle, The clouds and rain really held temps down, We had highs in the low 50s and even upper 40s, And winds from the East were pretty strong gusting to 25MPH at times, Many people starting there heat for the 1st time this season, including us, It's that time of year again!

Here at my backyard between Thursday and Saturday Afternoon we've picked up 2.60" of rain so a Wet start to October, and We might even be dealing with another System on Monday/Tuesday already, I will have a forecast out some time this weekend.

On to the next system! Heavier rain possible Late Thurs/Fri

Forecast Map for Thursday Friday and Saturday, Map created by me.

Well it's already time to talk about the next system because it will start to effect us Thursday! A Large low pressure system, A fairly strong one to, will really get more organized as it starts to effect our area, the center of the low will pass through Iowa, but it will send waves of rain North, Heavy Rains will be fairly likely from this system, although it is not 100% for sure where the heaviest bands will be, as much rain 2 inches maybe even as close as the local area, Either way I still think most of the areas should see some good rain totals from this system, It will be a slower moving system which will mean Good rain chances starting Thursday Afternoon and lasting through Saturday, We are looking at a pretty wet end to the week into the weekend. We will also kick up a bit of winds with this system but noting like last week, just expect some breezy conditions Detailed forecast blow

Thursday, Possible Sunny early then clouds moving in. A chance of rain starting early in the afternoon with rain becoming a good possibility by mid afternoon some could be heavy, with breezy winds, Highs in the Mid 50s. Thursday Night, A good chance of Rain, Possibly Heavy, Breezy wind, lows in the mid 40s.

Friday, Looking Wet A good chances of Rain, some possible heavy, highs in the low to mid 50s, Friday Night Rain continuing, a good chance of rain lows in the low 40s.

Saturday, Lingering off and on showers continuing highs in the low 50s, Saturday Night A chance of showers, Cool, lows in the low 40s to upper 30s.

Looking Ahead It looks like a wet pattern will continue Sunday should be dry and cool, but another system looks to bring us more rain early next week temps look to continue to be cool, but then the model shows a possible Very cool drop off for the end of the week much could chance before that time but it will still have to be watched.

Widespread Frost last night across most areas, Frost Report.

Frosty Dahlia flower in my garden Sept 30th
Photo showing White Fields just outside my yard Sept 30th

Low Temperatures Reported

Clouds held strong all day Tuesday but then clouds broke up and skies became completely clear just in time for night to approach, This help send temps dropping like a rock last night as well has a cold High Pressure over the area. I would say just about every community in our 6 county area had widespread frost last night, Most places across the area even reported temperatures below or at freezing I believe most places had their Killing Frost, and places in Washburn County even had a completely hard Freeze.
Frosty Leaf Sept 30th

My official Frost report for here in Clayton is, we had a Widespread Frost, This frost was my 1st frost of the season, but it was a hard one, Fields were completely frosted and All corn was frosted, here in my yard, Garden Plants were hit with a hard frost, and even plants close to the house, and grass under trees were was frozen or had some frost, my official low on my station was 30.F

This was a killing frost, and The Growing season has ended here at my location, which seems kinda odd for my 1st frost of the season.

Very strong winds Today.

A video I took of the strong winds blowing through my yard September 27Th

We had Very Strong winds blow through the area today, after the cold front passed, Showers formed right along the leading edge of the cold air behind the cold front coming down from ND/MN, this line of showers raced down at 35MPH and the strongest winds were right in this line, reports of winds near 50MPH were reported.

A number blown off from the gas station sign in Clayton. My friend Alan G. of Turtle Lake sent me in this late picture he took of a tree which was snapped by Very strong Northwest winds on the Clear Lake-Clayton ATV trail on the North edge of Clayton.

Winds of 45-50MPH did cause damage through out the area, Isolated reports of trees down came in from across the area, from friends I know and reports to the NWS. Trees were reported down in Dunn county, and some power lines were reported down in the southern side Turtle Lake, from these high winds winds. Here in Clayton, there was some tree damage, a temporary Church sign was blown down, and as odd as this is, a number blew off the gas station sign, there was also many branches and leaves in the road. quick gust of wind took all the Potted plants off this table, they cleared the second bench then spilled, also showing all the leaves that were blown off from the tree some that are still green.

In my yard Lots of leaves blown off the trees that were turning, even leaves that were still green were blowing off, Also many minor branches, littered our roof and yard, and other wind related things like Several potted plants blew off my picnic table in our backyard and spilled. and a plant was flattened in the Garden, The potted plants spilling surprised me, because the potted plants were weighed down.

Wind Reports

Amery 49MPH
Menomonie 47MPH

New Richmond 40MPH
