Happy 100 years Clayton!

Photos of the Community

This post is dedicated to my hometown, Clayton,Wisconsin.

Your looking at a photo of downtown Clayton, on Prentice street, some of these buildings are over 100 years old! Today marks the celebration of Clayton being a village for 100 years! Now I would like to mention This is a celebration for the town being Incorporated as a community for 100 years,

Here is a bit of history.

The village was in Incorporated in October of 1909, but the town was here long before that. Clayton became a town because of a sawmill which was set up along lake Camellia, They actually floated logs all the way to Amery up a small creek, then down small river. The town Clayton was actually named after Clayton Rogers who was a the boss of the sawmill on Camellia lake. when the town was in the planning process Worthy Prentice mapped out the village, Because of this, The main street though town Prentice Ave, was named after him.

Downtown Clayton-Clayton Ave

you can clearly tell even today, where the train went though the village, west of the location in this photo, Some These buildings were likely built in the before 1890.

Parade/Celebration Photos
Here is a photo of the parade along Prentice Street. The parade was long this year, Before the parade starts. they line up along 80Th ave and then it goes though town. This year the line went so far back, it passed to Barron/Polk County line! They had most Main streets into town closed for this event! This is a sign the area business Wheels and Deals had specially put up on there parade float this year for the 100Th. I found this sign funny! This is a sign Bergmann's Greenhouse another big area business had up for the celebration.

We guess that over 1,000 people showed up for this event!
Here is a photo of all the cars, I have never seen Clayton this busy!

Thankyou for reading my post about the village of Clayton 100 year celebration. Don't forget to stop at the Tractor-Truck pull in town Saturday, and the Demo derby Sunday!

Please post comments below.

Clayton will have a small celebration for official signing of the town turning 100 year Oct.

Weather for Centennial Cheese days. Severe Weather Chance Thursday!

weather map for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

I have quite a bit to talk about, We will have a strong low pressure system moving north Thursday, This system will pull in a warm and humid air mass. With these conditions we will have the set up, for the chance for some Strong to Severe Storms, in the afternoon/overnight for our area. So be aware that there is a chance for severe weather Thursday, Especially in the southern counties.

Friday, We will see scattered showers and Thunderstorms, as a font pulls though. and the low moves east I believe a couple of these may be strong. but the best chance for strong to severe storms will be Thursday, We could see some good rainfall totals of an inch or more between Thursday and Friday. Saturday, the system will be pulling away, and we will be left with clouds, with some clearing later in the day Saturday. Sunday, a high pressure will start to move in, pulling in some Very warm temperatures. So Sunday looks to be sunny and very warm. Detailed forecast below.

Clayton Centennial Cheese Days.

Thursday, Partly to mostly cloudy and Humid, A good chance of Thunderstorms in the afternoon, Some storms may become Severe. Highs in the upper 70s Thursday Night, A good chance of Thunderstorms in the evening, A few may be severe. Then a chance of showers overnight. lows in the low 60s.

Sunday, Very Warm, Partly Cloudy, with highs approaching the mid 80s. Sunday Evening, partly cloudy, lows in the 60s.

Looking Ahead Sunday looks to be the start of a string of very warm days, The first part of the week we will be on a slow warming trend, Temperatures could be getting close to 90 by Tuesday or Wednesday. It also appears we will have some chances for Showers and Storms.

Here is a photo of a flowering spirea by our house, When I planted it I was not expecting this many flowers. I mainly planted it because it does so well.
